Jose Vilson Talking About How Educators of Colour Need to Educate White Teachers

Description:

Jose Luis Vilson talks about his book "This is not a Test: A new narrative on Race, Class and Education", in a discussion on issues of race, gentrification and the teaching profession from the eyes of a Black-Latino educator.

In the clip above, Vilson points out that in the US, over 80% (approximately) of all teachers are white, whereas the populations they serve are multicultural and very often comprised predominantly of children of colour.  He asserts that the teachers who are people of colour need to speak up and use their collective voice to educate white teachers.
