Kenora - Robo Wash 3000 Video Transcript

    Welcome to TVO’s mPower! In this video, we are highlighting one of our creative online Grade 3-6 games: Robo Wash 3000

     

    In this game, players travel to Kenora to program a robot operated car wash. Players apply their knowledge of Patterning and Algebra by identifying, extending and predicting growing patterns.

     

    When playing for the first time, players, whether they are in grade 3 or 6, begin at the grade 3 tier, Hand Wash Helper. As players complete a grade tier, the next grade tier is unlocked

     

    In Stage 1, players identify and extend a growing geometric pattern on a grid. Players tap and drag geometric shapes to extend patterns

     

    In Stage 2,  players extend a growing number pattern presented in a table of values. Players drag the arrow up or down to set the correct number of actions, or tap the + or - buttons to fine tune their input.

     

    In Stage 3, players predict a future term for a growing pattern given a table of values and pattern rule. Players drag the arrow up or down to set the correct number of actions, or tap the + or - buttons to fine tune their input.

     

    Players are provided with feedback on their patterning skills. If needed, scaffolding will provide hints and suggestions to help the player complete the task and solve the problem.

     

    By the end of the game, students should be able to identify, extend and predict growing patterns.
