Welcome to TVO’s mPower! In this video, we are highlighting one of our creative online Grade 3-6 games, Fencing Frenzy

In this game, players travel to Guelph and develop their knowledge of Attributes, Units and Measurement Sense and Measurement Relationships by applying their knowledge and understanding of perimeter and area to create pens for livestock.

[Game Sound]:  On the farm, work crops up all the time. Ha Ha! Aida has produced a farm joke.

Players investigate measurement relationships by creating two-dimensional polygons that meet specific perimeter and area criteria.

When playing for the first time, players, whether they are in grade 3 or 6, begin at the grade 3 tier, Paddock Planner. As players complete a grade tier, the next grade tier is unlocked.

[Game Sound]:  Lots more pens to build.

Players tap and drag fence posts to create a pen that meets the specified area and/or perimeter.

[Game Sound]: Look at that! The perfect pen. I'm so pleased!

Players are provided with feedback on their fences.  If needed, scaffolding will provide hints and suggestions to help the player complete the task and solve the problem.

[Game Sound]: Let's try that one again. Use Aida's real-time data to help you build the pen.

[Game Sound]: You and Aida make a good team!

By the end of the game, students should be able to create polygons that meet the specific perimeter and area criteria.
