Ottawa - Capital Cleanup Transcript

Version 5

Welcome to TVO’s mPower! In this video, we are highlighting one of our creative online Grade 3-6 games, Capital Clean Up.

In this game, players travel to Ottawa and develop their knowledge of Identifying Angles Relationships by using benchmark angles to navigate a boat as they pick up trash on the Ottawa River.

[Game Sound]: Yeah Aida enjoys the wind and the gentle spray of water droplets on her screen.

Players identify, compare and measure various angles using benchmarks and a protractor.

When playing for the first time, players, whether they are in grade 3 or 6, begin at the grade 3 level, Garbage Getter. As players complete a grade level, the next grade level is unlocked.

Players click on the trash to bring up the navigation protractor and select the correct angle to navigate their boat.

Players are provided with feedback.  If needed, scaffolding will provide hints and suggestions to help the player complete the task and solve the problem.

[Game Sound]: That angle didn't steer our boat towards the trash. My system is prompting us to travel at this angle.

By the end of the game, students should be able to identify and measure various angles using benchmarks and a protractor.
