Hello and welcome to the MPower Community. Today we will be learning about the various features on the mPower site on TeachOntario.
We are delighted that you are here, if you have not yet joined the community then please take a moment to click on the Actions button and then scroll down and click on Join Group.
The mPower Community site has discussion forums, tips to get started, educator resources and multimedia resources.
Starting at the centre of the homepage is the Welcome Carousel which highlights featured content, our hotline number and information about the games.
We suggest you begin in the MPower Community by clicking on the Getting Started tile.
This will bring you to a page rich in all of the resources that you need to begin using mPower; how to register as an educator, how to register your students, how to play the games, how to access the assessment information and any tips and tricks that we think are useful when starting with mPower.
Clicking on the Community Discussions tile on the left-hand side of the screen will bring you to our discussion page.
We have organized the discussions so you can chat with colleagues in your grade but we have also created a general discussion feature for questions and conversations that are common to all mPower educators.
Directly below Community Discussions is the Educator Resources tile.
Clicking on this will bring you to the Educator Guides for our mPower games as well as Ministry resources and a sample parent letter.
The FAQ tile, directly below Educator Resources brings you to the most commonly asked questions about mPower.
Think of this section as “Everything You wanted to Ask about mPower.” If you have a question, that isn’t answered here, then please ask a colleague in Community Discussions or contact us. We are happy to help. The Contact Us button is found on the right hand-side at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on it will provide you with information on how to email us or phone our help desk.
We are excited to share the section entitled Multimedia resources.
Clicking on the Multimedia Resources tile brings you to a plethora of video resources including; a general mPower overview video, testimonials from educators using mPower and short videos that show you how to play all of the games.
Continuing on the right hand-side of the screen are the two buttons for the Educator Account log-in as well as the student log-in. Below these buttons is the Upcoming Events feature which shares information about mPower events across the province.
We would also like to invite you to click on the Introduce Yourself button in the centre bottom of the page, which will allow you to say hello to everyone.
Finally, The Twitter feed has been Storified so that any tweets you make on Twitter will be profiled on the mPower community. Feel free to add pictures, share stories from the field and tell us about any exciting ideas that you have for using mPower in your classrooms.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know the mPower Community better. We look forward to working and learning alongside you with mPower.
Goodbye and we’ll see you in the community soon.
