Welcome to TVO’s mPower! In this video, we are highlighting one of our creative online Grade 2 games: Geo Tundra Trek.

In this game, players visit a tundra location and develop their knowledge of Geometric Properties by composing two-dimensional shapes, identifying and describing various polygons using pictorial representations.

Players create shapes on a virtual geo-board to make ice or land masses.

If correct, the animals on the screen will jump on the newly created ice or land mass.

[Game Sound]: Tap the peg here.

[Game Sound]: Now finish the triangle!

[Game Sound]: You've got it!

The shape you made has three sides and three vertices.

[Game Sound]: "Vertices" is another name for corners.

If the response is incorrect, hints are provided to aid the player.

[Game Sound]: Try a shape like this one!

One of the special features of the game, is in the last stage, where players have the opportunity to create any shape they wish, and to apply their learning from the game.

[Game Sound]: You're shape is cool as ice!

Shapes created in the last stage can be printed from the Community Gallery in the educator dashboard and used for communication and application of learning. This allows for assessment as learning and encourages peer and self-assessment.

By the end of the game, students should be able to compose two-dimensional shapes, identify and describe various polygons using pictorial representations.
