Undersea Symmetry Video Transcript

    Welcome to TVO’s mPower! In this video, we are highlighting one of our creative online Grade 2 games: Undersea Symmetry.

     

    In this game, players visit an aquatic location and develop their knowledge of Geometric Properties by locating the line of symmetry in a two-dimensional figure and creating and describing symmetrical designs using a variety of tools.

     

    Before game play begins, players view an interactive tutorial describing the concept of symmetry.

     

    [Game Sound]: Initiate sea-scan!

    [Game Sound]: Importing data.

    [Game Sound]: Look! A symmetrical sea creature!

    [Game Sound]: By looking at the line of symmetry we see that everything on one side is the mirror image of everything on the other.

     

    In the first stage of play, players select the correct line of symmetry for a given sea creature. A correct response reveals a sea creature.

     

    [Game Sound]: You got it!

    [Game Sound]: That's the octopus' line of symmetry!

     

    In the second stage, players click and drag tiles to complete one side of a symmetrical picture.

     

    [Game Sound]: Make the image symmetrical.

    [Game Sound]: Tap check when you're done.

     

    If correct, a sea creature is revealed.

     

    [Game Sound]: You got it!

    [Game Sound]: A jellyfish! In perfect symmetry!

     

    If the response is incorrect, hints are provided to aid the player.

     

    In the final stage, players complete both sides of a symmetrical picture.

     

    Players complete the entire puzzle to reveal one final sea creature.

     

    [Game Sound]: An entire symmetrical sea-scan saved!

    [Game Sound]:  An octopus!

    [Game Sound]: Great work Geo Adventurer!

     

    By the end of the game, players should be able to locate the line of symmetry in a two-dimensional figure and create and describe symmetrical designs using a variety of tools.
